I have the G2 on my 06 and will probably get the MX4 for my 18. Worth $900 probably not but then again not many things are worth what they sell for these days. ;)

I'm also looking for a hard cover that sits flush. I looked at the Amazon reviews for the Bakflip and it sounds like the quality is not all that great. Multiple people have had them show up with scratches on them from the factory. Doesn't sound like they come with any shims and the newer models are thinner metal than the older ones.

Lol. That doesn’t sound promising. What other ones have you been looking at or leaning towards

Also it’s a truck I expect some scratches and weathering. I’ll search and see if I can find pics. I just like what bakflip is offering with locking and opening and closing the bed with the cover down

Check local dealers. I found one here in Phoenix that sells installed for the same as most mail order places sell for. Most places seem to want to sell BAK at full msrp.

Love my G2 on my 2011. Seen a lot of other brand covers on similar trucks, still would by another BakFlip. Only thing that is "hard" and allows the use of 98% of the bed without height restriction.

I have had a MX4 on my 2015 for 3 years. Still looks and works like brand new. I haven’t seen anything else I would rather have.

I have the Revolver X2. I love that it rolls up so compactly, but is hard and secure. I have actually walked across the top of it. It sits flush and is barely noticeable when looking from the side. The mounting bars do make the top opening narrower by a little over two inches, inch on each side. Same thing with other covers. It’s not been an issue for me, even with a crane loading a bulk tote bag of qp stone.

Hmmm, let us see I had one on my 06 1500 ram when I bought it back in 06 and that same one I bought and use it on my 2011 1500 I use that same one on my 2014 2500, that same one I use it on my 2016 2500 and now I'm using that same one on my 2017 2500, so yeah I think it's worth it. I have the F4 Bakflip.

I have the MX4 and don't have any complaints. I wanted the matte finish and as slim as possible, so at the time it was a no brainer. I shopped around a few local truck places and at least got free install.

I had the backflip mx4 on my 2013 Ram 1500. I bought it in 2014. I got it when I was stationed in Texas and then moved to Virginia in 2015. By late 2017, early 2018 it started sagging really bad. I never had any weight on it. After every snow in Virginia I got the snow off in the morning so never really any weight on it but it started to sag so much I finally just tossed it. Sent 2 emails in Jan/Feb of 2018 and no response and I can only explain because I was out of warranty. While it was good, it was great and loved it but it decided to deteriorate fast. The only thing I can think of was the heat from Texas and then the humidity and salt from being on the ocean in Virginia caused it to fail. On my 2018 2500 I put on the undercover ridgelander and am happy so far with it. No water gets in it and I like the option of my bikes or cargo on top.

You may have had a different Bakflip model...I don’t believe the MX4 was out on 2014. Either that or they have since revised it.

I think the bakflip cover is the best for my truck , have had access vinyl covers on all previous trucks . Get one , you won't regret it .

I've had a the G2 on my truck for 3 years now and it performs as it should. I like that I can lock everything up and it hides my 5th wheel. It fits flush and looks good. When towing I just fold it back 3 times and the last fold covers anything in front of the 5th wheel. I've also secured a few things on top with no issues. The only complaint I can say is that it gets really hot in the sun. I think if I were to buy one new I'd get the fiberglass upper. I don't think it would get as hot. And mine has never sagged and is just as level as the day I installed it. I also like that I can fold it back only as far as needed like when I had some 2x6's in back I could let the last section rest on them. I like mine.
