So dodge has been good to me so far with the issues i've encountered. I got the phone call about the gear ratio in the truck that was supposed to be 4:10 gears and ended up being 3:73 instead. They gave me 28 free oil changes for the inconvenience. Well with all thats said the next issue I need to get some input on is when I first start my truck it runs rough for a good 10 mins. Its seems when I take off it lacks fuel then all of a sudden it gets fuel again. I really hesitates when I shift through the gears. I noticed that if I press the gas down sorted fast it really stalls for a split second. Anyways you guys have help me a lot in the past and I do have an appointment with the service shop but not for another week and was just wanting a little input on the situation. Thanks for all the input guys.

I am pretty sure your truck is doing what it was designed to do. These trucks will not allow you to dump more fuel into the cylinders than it can burn, so, until your turbo sloops up some the fuel is restricted.

Was your truck marked as a 410 ratio? Are you sure your front differential is also 373?
There is another guy here that had a 410 front and a 373 rear.
I haven't looked at the front to see. To be honest Im not sure as to were to look. The truck was supposed to be built 4.10 thats what I ordered but they called and said it was built 3.73. Could someone tell me where to check the ratios? Would it still run and skip when i warms up if it was doing what its supposed to do? Once it warms up if runs and drives fine. Thanks

My trucks window sticker also said 410's but I was informed here that you could not get a 3500 with 410's only 342. I sent for my build sheet and sure enough I have 342 gears. From another thread I was worried about having miss matched gears. But my truck drives smooth, also on gravel in 4 wheel drive it is smooth, I assume if the gears were different you could tell. I would think if they were mismatched it would not be smooth the front would be fighting the back? But I also would like to find out for sure?
Thanks
Jim
My window sticker said 3.73, build sheet said 3.42.
Most truck rear ends have a metal tag affixed to one of the cover bolts, with the ratio stamped on it. And the window sticker will tell you the trucks's standard features in the left hand collum, and the ordered items particular to your specific truck on the right.
Welder,
I got the same thing. One of the forum members explained it as a symptom of a variable vane turbo with exhaust brake on.
28 oil changes... that's like a lifetime for these trucks... I just hate letting others touch my truck. I know I have 4.10 gears... 70 mph is about 2k rpms. My old '99 with 4.10s would do 70 at around 2400rms.

Nah, it's only 420,000 miles worth of oil changes.
