I have an autometer electronic fuel pressure gauge that I took of my powerstroke. I was wondering If it would be wise for me to mount this one in my cummins or should I try and find an adrenaline with the fuel pressure built in?

Can I run this fuel pressure gauge anyway in the cummins?

On my 98.5, I installed the Autometer sending unit in the top of the fuel canister in one of the two test ports. Works like a champ. You should DEFINITELY run a fuel pressure gauge on a VP pumped truck and have a lift pump that will keep the pressure above 10 PSI at WOT.

Thanks for the info, I guess I wont sell my gauge now and just put it in the cummins now.

Where can I buy the adapter to mount the sending unit for on top of the fuel canister or will autometers sending unit screw right in?

The sending unit will mount to the filter housing without an adapter, 1/8" npt. Some will suggest a snubber to help with IP fuel pressure pulse that helps sender last.

I take it the ports I have labeled 1 and 2 are the test ports and I can put my autometer sending unit in any of those ports?

Will they be under pressure when I break them free?

I put mine in the port you have marked as 1. As long as the truck is off, there will be no pressure. The sending unit should screw right in there. 1/8NPT fitting. I put an elbow on mine.

To totally beat a dead horse, yeah it will work fine. Remember on the VP44 they like fuel pressure to be between 10 to 20 psi. They are not like the 50+ psi the powerstrokes are used to getting.:thumbsup

Yea thats not good to hear 10-20psi. My gauge is only reading 6psi at idle and 0 on the gas.

Gotta order the airdog100 when I get paid.

Is there anything else I need to do other than the airdog to get it up to the 10-20psi range?
