there I was driving along the interstate (mindin my own business) car driving slow in center lan and left lane, I pull into right lane barley accelerate up to about 75 mph and what can be described as a thunk was hear, engine RPM race up i lett off the gas and barely get to side of interstate, truck will not move in any gear or reverser, so 122 miles and two tow truck later im home - now What in the world happened.... over 100k on this rebuild, it had a updated main shaft 9cant remember who) and a billet converter put in it, but I swear it acted just like a main shaft would if it were to bust

will find out soon enough, but in the mean time, im stuck, I need a truck by monday after noon

this is this trucks second trans............ and im a maintenance fanatic

I wish I could drop a manual trans in it! but I dont have the down time to get it done............

Built trans? triple disk converter? Billet input shaft?
triple disk and no billet input=broken input shaft.

Having a billet input guarantees you nothing .

NOT having a billet input shaft with a triple disk guarantees it (input shaft) will eventually break. :)
That was the point of the question.

I dont know if it was a ripple disc converter, they said it was billet and the input shaft (I still call them a main shaft for some reason)

the trans had be rebuilt by a shop for the previous owner just before I bought the truck, I have tthe paper work here somewhere im sure(not hat itt matters), like I said that was over 100k ago) shop told me they did a valve body kit too and some mods, also removed check valve in line for beter fluid flow, ruck was bone stock so they did not build the tranny for High performance use

I didnt even bother looking at it today..... all I can think right now is, I wish I had replaced it at around 100k miles, even though it was working perfectly, cause down time right now SUCKS, there was absolutly no warning anything was wrong

my advice, but a new truck before the drop in value so much uypou loose a ton of cash! or replace trans, ball joints, front hub bearings, rear ends, every 100 k if you don't want to get stranded! <g>

now somehow tomorrow I have to ttry and get the time to find a place that will get this thing on the road soon, get a rental truck for the next three days - and I live in the middle of no freaking where NE Georgia!

arghh the timing just sucks is all!
