I have a 2004 3500 with automatic transmission. when the outside temperature is around 35 to 40 it shifts ok in 1st than into 2nd but won't shift into 3rd or 4th. After the temperature warms up it shifts fine and smooth. What's up with that. Anybody seen that happen to them. the check engine light has come on.

when was the last time it was serviced?
I would start by dropping the pan, change out transducer & governer, adjust the bands & go from there.
