Auto tranny shifter loose

I have an 01 ram 2500 and my transmission column shifter has play in it. It is very hard at times to find reverse and is very irritating because I'm constantly going forward and backward as I use the truck for plowing snow. Also, the gear indicator only works half of the time. Anything I can do to tighten up the shifter and make it easier to shift into reverse?

Your favorite auto parts store has ALL bushings for this job. Replace the bushings in ALL of the linkage joints even under the cab going to the tranny. Becareful with the airbags. Unhook both batteries. Touch the cables together. Turn headlights, blower fan switch on and off. To drain all unwanted power. Then WALK AWAY for atleast 30 minutes. You don't want to get smacked by a airbag. Broken arms/ broken necks have happened from airbag deployment. Not hard to do but Becareful!!!
:agree2:

I believe the column has some tamper-proof torx screws
They are called HOLLOW TORX
