I have an 01 ram 2500 and my transmission column shifter has play in it. It is very hard at times to find reverse and is very irritating because I'm constantly going forward and backward as I use the truck for plowing snow. Also, the gear indicator only works half of the time. Anything I can do to tighten up the shifter and make it easier to shift into reverse?
Before you go ripping apart...underneath the cab, follow the shifter linkage over where it connects at the cab. One bolt connects an adjustment piece to the body, that bolt can loosen and cause your sloppy shifter.
