Starting to do the stereo in my truck. I currently have the infinity system in it now. I am going to get a double din dash bezel and put in a pioneer avh-p2400bt. I know I need an interface to connect it to the stock system. I was going to get the one that doesn't use the steering wheel controls. How much power does the factory amp have? I am going to use the factory speakers for now. And upgrade them after. What is the best way to configure the speakers in these trucks. I am thinking of front door speakers 6 x 9 and 3.5 in the dash and possibly adding a sub later. Would it be wise to bypass factory amp and amp the door speakers?

I JUST got done having all of this done in my Mega Cab and it sounds amazing. I opted to not have the steering wheel controls either. It was too much more money to have something I never used anyway. The only speakers I kept stock were the ones in the dash and they are handling the extra power nicely. If you are interested I can get you the details on what I had done. The box I have still leaves a ton of room for storage too. Just one sub but the flow of air in the box makes it sound SICK! Have you ever checked out the Kenwood Excelon series? They are like half off retail right now and they come with a higher power output by far and they have an unsurpassed sound quality to them.

I would be interested in hearing about that. My long term plans are:
Deck first with bu camera
Door speakers in front doors and dash speakers. Still unsure of door speaker size, I have heard boh 6x9 or 6.5"
Amp speakers
JL stealthbox I like having the back seat shelf though so not sure about he sub yet I had a 12" thunderform in my f150 and really like it so I maybe willing to loose the shelf later.

I have a backup camera built into my deck and the lens I chose also acts as a license plate trim. The camera is also adjustable for those trucks that are lifted/lowered.

I had the 6x9's in my front doors and smaller ones in my back doors. I thought I had the receipts with me but I dont:( But, I went ALL OUT! I have sattellite TV and a gaming port for an XBox or Wii. I have Screen's in my headrests, up in the deck, and hanging from the ceiling and they all tie together. It was actually pretty inexpensive. The guy that did the work did say that the infinity speakers were far better than the "norm" stock ones were and that they would have held up okay for what I wanted. It sounds excellent! As soon as I get ahold of my receipts I can tell you what I specifically have running. I just have one sub but its very, very beefy :)

Wow that was way more than what I was thinking of doing. Sounds really cool though.

3.5's in the dash, 6x9 in the front doors, 5.25's in the rear doors.

No point in keeping the dash speakers really. Look at Metra for the wiring harness adapter for aftermarket deck to stock wiring to aftermarket.

 Well done! I hate to peice part an install myself. I find it best to get all the parts and peices and then take everything a part and install it and then put it all back together and be done!! My plans so far for my 08 mega cab , is to go with a kenwood excellon dvd hu or Pioneer hu , I already have the stock rear dvd player . I`m going to go with cdt audio for all my component speakers which i plan to run 4 sets and go with a down firing sub box for under the rear seat with not sure yet 2-12" subs leaning toward RE audio. I`m going to drive them all with Zed amps, looks like 4 of them and I`m going to use all stinger wiring, blocks ect. looking to run around 3500-4000 rms watts. Should be LOUD!! Look at their , there is a ton of oustanding audio companies that most peolpe have never heard of that are outsanding! Make a budget and shop! Good luck!!

damn..im all late on this..lol.
cdt audio is a hit and miss with them. zed amps are the tits. great stuff.
im only running a front stage setup. rainbow vanadium cross line265 phas plug. the highs are sex. the mids are ehh..but i think its because of the doors being to big for them. the bottom out quick thus why on dont run low frequencys to them. the front stage runs of a focal fp 2.150.
i need to get fillers for the rear. u dont really need to amp the rears. just run them off the radio unless ur aim is just to be loud.
my subs are digital design 3510s. 2 10in subs. trust me, all u need is 10s. less space. slightly smaller box, they will play higher notes and get low as well. i have an 1800rms dd amp which only puts out about 900 or so watts to each sub..but trust me.. i dont hit those 900 watts. each sub will take 1500rms. i think the best ill do is prob 1200 each. lol seeing as the air pressure that builds up inside the cab has started to do wonders to my interior.
u might want to rethink those 4 re audio subs. ur gonnna need alot of box space for them to be happy in the right sized box.

I still haven't installed this yet. I have a pioneer avh-p2400bt double din deck. I just got a bezel off eBay for 150 and a q logic sub box for $50 off eBay. I am going to just install the deck soon and add the rest later on. I will amp the front speakers and probably bridge the sub off a four channel amp. It is only a 10" sub but hey I am 47 this year so what can you expect.

I have a set of 5.25 TMA component speakers would it be wise to install these in the front doors with the amp and 10" sub under the rear seat. Or would it be a better idea to get a decent 6x9 or 6.5" for the doors instead of the 5.25" speakers. I just ordered a 600 watt jbl 4 channel amp to run the sub and front speakers

Put em in the rear doors, and get a good set of 6x9's or 6.5's for the front doors. Put the JBL on all 4, get a second amp for sub.

I would say get a set of good 6x9 comps , and if you can`t find a good set then do the 6.5" comps. Use the 5 1/4 " in the rear doors for fill.

Dont worry about ur rears so much. All u gotta do is have sound coming out from the rear doors. Keep them stock. Concentrate on the front doors. Thats where u sit. Focal audiohas a great set of 6x9s if u dont want to mess around with buildomg adapters. Small amp will do. Jl audio sells 6in subs that im sure will be sufficient for what ur looking for. Not to loud but fill in with the bump. U can get them for around 80 each. The box for them is no bigger then a shoe box. But keep this in mind, a custom box will bring out the best amd optimum sound for any sub regardless of the cost on the sub. Subs need a specific amount of air volume( space ) to sound great.
If there is anything u get from this dont dont buy pre fab boxes.

Prefab boxes are fine if you buy a sub to match the airspace. Space is space.

Where is the best amp mounting location? I was thinking on the back wall or under the front centre seat.

I`m going to mount mine on the back wall, if they will all fit! :hehe: Best place is were they get good air flow to help keep them cool and also a safe place were it`s hard to steal, but also were you can get to them if you need to tweek anything. Just my 2 cents.
