Just a thought that crossed my mind. (there I go thinkin again:lol3:)
Relocate the APPS to the Driver's inner fender, or possibly firewall.
My reason for this would be to promote more airflow around the VP-44, keeping it cooler, maybe helping it live longer.
My last VP only made it about 60k miles before it left me stranded coming home from snowmobiling (trailer in tow) on a VERY COLD Jan. night. P1688 code.:hateit:
Ya guys think it would be worth it?
Or a big waste of time?

i was thinking of installing a small fan(like out of a computer) to blow air around the pump. just wire it in with the ignition. dunno how well itd work though.

That might be good for the APPS too. From what I've been reading, putting them in a no airflow pocket by the engine is cooking them too.

Why don't you try the 2 cycle oil works good... :w:

As for electronic faults those have been corrected mostly in the newer versions of VP44. They don't happen as often now...

You'd waste your money. My factory one lasted 120k miles and had been run with negative pressure for 20k with the wire tapped and was running fine when I pulled it off. It was just getting weak. The one I installed after it was weak from the get go and 9 months later I'm sending it off to be worked on.
