:thumbsup:do I have to turn the truck off completely and restart it?
Crazy talk! I can see where that would come into play, hot swapping electronics is never a good idea. It's not advised to plug in or disconnect a trailer while the ignition is on. Doing so may voltage spike your TIPM and cause failure.

Why is that "stupid"? It seems like a pretty good and simple plan. If there was another way, people would turn it off while trailer was hooked up, and lose the warning.I was told that i had to turn it off and restart mine to shut it off. Its stupid but that came from a dodge mechanic's mouth. One would think there would be another way.
And your post as very useful. This thread is useless
I think its stupid because you just pulled a trailer, your turbo is hot. So they want us to shut it off right away to unhook a trailer. I know what they say about warm up and cool time on the emission controlled crap, but basics are it is still a diesel that needs warm up and cool down. If you are pulling a trailer and cant tell if your lights dont work or brakes if it has them quit, you shouldnt be pulling it.Why is that "stupid"? It seems like a pretty good and simple plan.
