Getting ready to take a trip during Thanksgiving, and was wondering how the hot spot worked. I'm assuming it's the 3G network and only works while you are driving and in the vehicle. Although, some ads say it's good up to 150ft. So how would you connect in your camper. Acc only stays on for a short time and leaving the truck running is sure out of the question. Just curious.:confused013:

Watch your data usage. Checking email and cummins forum won't be an issue. Streaming movies will have you paying overage fees pdq.

I was under the impression that it was unlimited. By the way, my trip is taking me to the Coushatta Casino at Kinder LA. Always went there when I lived in San Antonio. Then we will drive to SA to visit friends.:party018:

Yeah, going to have to check that out finally. Borrowed my daughter's Wi-Fi hot spot with AT&T when we went to Nags Head back in Oct and really liked it. I'm not savvy enough yet with this so I guess it's about time. Still have the old fashioned flip phone.:confused013:

Uconnect uses Sprint's 3G and Sprint's 3G is SLOWWWW!! I know because I have Sprint..... It's so slow, it's not good to surf any normal website using it. It's only good for mobile sites...

On the other end of the spectrum, I have a work phone with Verizon's service. My work phone is also a 4G LTE phone and this booger is FAST!! At times it's much faster than my cable internet service @ home....

Interesting, I guess I'm going to have to join the ranks of the living and check on one of those 4G phones. All this stuff sure gets expensive in the retirement years.

You must have some sweet deal in Canada. I have AT&T, and for 5 gigs a month of data it's $50 in addition to my monthly phone charge which puts me right around $115 per month with taxes. Rip off. I'd like to switch to T-Mobile but their signal sucks around here.

Through Verizon, I get 12 Gig for $100 a month....We take our air card with us when we go camping and use it in the truck as well as in our 5er....been rare we've been somewhere that there wasn't service. The 3 G speed is a joke..as slow as it is, you'd think they'd charge you about 5 bucks a month...

I use it as a backup source of wifi when we're traveling, both my wifes phone and I are AT&T with hot spot enabled but the truck must be using verizon towers, or something at least not AT&T because the truck has 3G when our phones are out of service and sometimes the other way around...
