I was working on my truck and disconnected and reconnected the battery. The truck ran for a little and then died. It used to crank slowly but not start with a red light flashing. Now the red light is still flashing but when the key is turned over nothing happens. All of the interior electronics and lights work. I have a 2005 and I do not have a key fob and am wondering How I could get it out of theft mode?

You indicate slow cranking. If the batteries are cooked or very low on charge the immobilizer will lock out the ability to start. When you turn turkey does the volt meter come alive? Check your batteries first. Are they old, new, matched capacities?

I charged them up and the red blinking light went away but when I crank the truck still nothing happens

Any codes ? from ECM or EMIC(cluster)
low voltage is big issue with older vehicle can corrupt software.

It turns out it was not the immobilizer. Both batteries and the starter were bad. After replacing them and the terminals the truck starts fine.
