another voltage reg thread

I got an external voltage regulator from a 89 D250, I want to put it on my 93. I read all the other threads but of course I still have questions. There are two prongs in the reg connector, it looks like this:
(sorry for the crappy "drawing", the zeros are the prongs)

[_______]

One goes to the alt field terminal and one to ground, correct? Which is which? How much current runs through these wires? Just a control circuit, right? Because I need to know what gauge wire I should use.

It is only a ground circuit. The Dodges that used those orginaly only had around a 16/18 gage wire.

So it doesn't matter which wire goes where?

If I remember the lower pin is the ground. I have seen them wired both ways even from Dodge.
