Just drove the truck, and as I was turning it off I noticed I got the update. We'll see if it makes a difference tomorrow. I'll be driving the truck about 3 hours tomorrow.
Are you having any issues - I have not had any "issues" really since owing it.

Yes, initial software was horrendous. Screen would crash, boot loop, Bluetooth/carplay wouldn't work.
The update earlier this year fixed much of it, but it's still laggy, and sometimes won't reconnect to my phone. Also it will 100% of the time disconnect from Bluetooth/crash in very specific areas, I think some weird wireless interference from an unknown source causes it issues.

I never had any issues with the initial software - its odd - some people have all kinds of problems.

I do get the disconnect of the wireless Android Auto in rural areas mostly - in the city it seems to have been stable. I typically do not turn on the Android auto unless I listen to spotify - otherwise I just keep it on the Uconnect connection for phone etc...

I think the android auto issues in the country are related to signal strength. low or no signal to phone, Android Auto stops working. Pretty annoying when using it for GPS. I have been running a Garmin Nuvi and the android Auto for the past 2 weeks to see what is more accurate, the Android Auto is, but the dropping of the navi in some areas is a deal killer for me, so I'll run both all the time.

Update: 3 hours in the truck today. Initially my Carplay application was vertically squashed, requiring me to do a manual reboot.
My iPhone seemed to connect via USB instead of WiFi/Bluetooth like it usually does. 100% of the time my Carplay will hang/freeze when I drive past a certain point, it didn't do it this time, as the phone seemed to be connected via USB.

Later it did cause the Carplay app to freeze, and actually crash in another spot where it fails 100% of the time. I suspect the phone was on Wifi/bluetooth this time.

Lastly I'm not sure what happened but somehow the radio got stuck on right channel only audio. (Typically Facebook, and other apps that have mono notifications do this) The only fix for this is to reboot the radio manually. I rebooted it, and it locked up after booting, and crashed again and rebooted. Also operating the heated/cooled seat settings still causes the speakers to click/pop.


So TLDR, the 12" uconnect still sucks, and doesn't work properly about 1% of the time.

Update, I got off of the phone with RAM, they are claiming the update was supposed to fix Carplay issues, but didn't, and dealers should have access to some "star" case/ticket.
I'm going to followup with the dealer next week when I bring it in for a powertrain issue.

When I first got my truck and had radio problems (I later found out by Ram/Uconnect my radio had latest software available when coming off the line) the local dealer told me an up date was available ( that was a big fat lie) an they do not update radios its only done over the air, so I'm somewhat surprised to hear them tell you dealer can do software things..

Yeah, I am not sure what to believe. Ram customer service said the dealer can access "star" case/ticket, not sure if that means they can update it or not, my guess would be no.

My dealer tried sending me to the UConnect website to enter my VIN...which is utterly useless and even more stupid for the UConnect 5...

Sometimes I feel like I know more about the truck than they do...

Update, took the truck to the dealer today for powertrain issues, and the radio issues. I turned the radio off, and then tried to turn it back on later, and it wouldn't power on! Backup camera non-functional. Absolutely ridiculous!

I received this from my dealer, I have been having issues ever since the update. This is what the dealer gave to me and I saw someone refer to the star report. There was a recent update that was supposed to fix this, i received the update and 2 weeks later same thing started. My screen shows "Device not supported" all the time.

Mine since this recent update will randomly just very loudly buzz and then black screen. It will shut off and then while attempting to turn on will short cycle on the RAM screen 2/3/4 times before it will finally load and come all the way back on. GPS then takes another 2 minutes or so to re-load.

Update: I took my truck to the dealer for several issues. They said they couldn't duplicate any issues with the 12" uconnect, they also told me that RAM Customer Service shouldn't have told me they can start a star case/ticket, as they can't without a failure point... I'm going to followup with RAM Customer Service, and will also be filing a report with NHTSA, as the backup camera doesn't work when the radio randomly stops powering on!
