I've got a 07 5.9 in the shop now and the mechanics can't figure out what's wrong can someone give me some ideas? please. The engine light came on one day and the the two codes it threw were p0088 and p0148. I had no power on the top end. it got worse and worse and finally the truck died all together. I put a new stock lift pump in the tank. it started after and would idle but would not rev up without dying. The truck is completely stock except a straight exhaust. and a crappy k&n filter. the mechanic said there was barely any fuel pressure. Could it be the new pump is no good? one other question do these motors make oil pressure while cranking them over?

I'd say there's a defective FCA or the injection pump itself is bad. Do you know where the fuel psi was being checked from ?

For you second question, no you won't see a lot of oil psi until the truck starts.

I think he was just seeing if the fuel bowl was filling. where is the best place to check the fuel pressure?

The bowl should fill fast. There is not a lot of pressure from the lift pump, but the volume is pretty good.

can the actuator be tested to see if its good?

Unplug the FCA and see if it will start. If it does, shut it off immediately. I doubt that is the problem, but it's easy to eliminate...
