i wanna try amsoil, but its so dammed expensive where i have seen it, dave, can u hook me up and what are the differnces in price compaird to in the store?
Yea I probably could. I just cannot see leaving the oil in that long. It took me 7.5 months to get 9,000km, so really I could go 1 year max, which would be like 15,000km. I am just really anal, I doubt I will even let the diffs, T-case, and tranny go over 20,000km.I'm a courior and I run the Marine 15w40 with the Amsoil filter, I do oil analyis, Since jan I have over 600hrs of run time and approx 25,000kms on the same oil, I usually change it at 30,000kms even though the oil reports come back saying resample at next maint interval (means oils good leave it alone) in that 30,000km span I end up adding a couple of liters.
I think its safe to say you can double your interval that your doing now, then resample the oil BEFORE you change it. Mine runs 8-10hrs a day city stop and go, if you drive your truck half way normal you could likely surpass the interval I'm on.
That is highway robbery, 10w40 from Amsoil is only about $9, and that's quite a bit more then 15w40.12.50 at peavey mart
The first time I went over 10,000kms on an oil change I near went outta my mind, we are so conditioned to replace oil at certain intervals, it does go against everything I was ever taught (I am a licensed Mechanic), Now I do the sample to keep an eye on things, good thing is if you do regular samples on the same oil change (every 10,000 lets say) you can see what it was when it was new and how it degrades over time. if the oil is still as good as new why change it? If I was going to change oil as often as you are I'd likely use rotella,Yea I probably could. I just cannot see leaving the oil in that long. The oil changes aren't cheap, I payed $100 for oil the last change, and the price keeps jumping everytime.
