Did a search but did not learn much.
I could smell raw fuel for about a week but could not fined a leak. My oil light came on so i shut it down, check the oil and it was about 2 gallons over full. I changed the oil and filter on the side of the road, and pulled the lift pump off but it doesn't look like it was leaking. I put on an old lift pump anyways. I've put on less then 200 miles and there's almost a gallon in the oil again.
Could the ip leak this much into the motor?
92 all stock, ip rebuilt 85k km ago.
runs good

Thanks

Well,

Did you install another old lift pump ?

Or did you install the old lift pump that came off the engine ?

It sounds like your Lift Pump is Bad,

Instead of leaking out the weep hole,(externally). It's going into the crankcase.

Sounds like the IP if your pretty sure the LP isn't the culprit. It can dump a fair amount of fuel into the timing case.

IP seal is toast. I had the same thing happen to my '92 a few years ago. I ended up changing out the pump in a NAPA parking lot. All seemed ok, but I ended up losing the turbo within a matter of days. Seems that diesel fuel isn't worth a hoot for lubing the turbo.

You'll most likely need to pull the timing cover unless you can see the key with a flash light and can pull it out with a magnet. Tab the KDP and loctite the case bolts while its opened up.

Do NOT leave the key down in the timing case.

Killer Dowel Pin, its an alignment pin for the timing case to block that has been known to fall out into the timing gears
