I was looking at installing the KN or the Banks. What kind of luck you guys had with these. Is the advertised hp noticed? Banks is saying they are getting the most flow and hp ( if used with tuner) I don't plan on using tuner, will I notice a difference in either brand?

i would not even consider K&N they dont filter as well as other and there oil can cause CEL, and I would do a AFE stage 2 pro dry s or pro guard 7, thats what is also most popular with cummins guys. They also flow very good they claim alot of hp gains but i have not seen a dyno sheet not from manufacture, where they just switched intake.

Take a look at S&B's website, they will give you hp and filter specs...I like the way they research all of their intakes, not just a few.

If your going to stay stock on power,a good drop in filter and some extra breathing holes in the stock air box will do fine for you.
your not going to notice any power gains from the seat of the pants, but you should gain some MPG.:thumbsup

:agree2:...IMO, intake and exhaust are primarily supporting mods. If you're not doing extra fueling, don't go all out. Stick with a drop in or the "Willy's whistler" or "BHAF" setups....

I have actually heard of K&N's collapsing. I had one on my old gas burner and wasn't that impressed. The oiling is a pain too.

I run the K&N FIPK kit on my truck and love it. Have had it on for 2 years and no problems. My buddy got the AFE on his 6.7 and I like it a lot as well

I have the K&N FIPKII - however- I replaced that stock K&N oil charged air filter with the AmsOil Nanofiber filter. I could have probably done just fine with the stock fillter - as I'm not laying into the thottle wide open all the time.

I took my Amsoil filter off to clean out with an air hose. Afterwards I put a white towel around in the K&N intake tube -- not any sign of dirt, etc at all... so - if you have the K&N on the way - don't sweat it.

Chuck - Diluth Diesel - carries these Amsoil filters that replaces the stock K&N filter....
The Amsoil part number is: EAAU4095 (that replaces the K&N filter).

Good luck, you'll be oky either way,

Ken

PVC and an AMSOIL NANO is the way to go...and it's a lot cheaper... Filter cost me $100 and the PVC was $4... My $104 intake flows better then any aftermarket one.... :beer

I love my AEM. Its just the Brute Force but it sounds great and ive had no probles with it. I did put an AMSOIL filter on to replace the AEM filter.
