Getting tired of buying these $80 BHAF filters from napa. Some friends of mine have the "spectre" long cone filters from auto zone in place of the air box and they seem to work just fine. But these are a lil too long to directly mount to the turbo (without using the intake tube). I found another spectre shorty filter, 4in diameter, about 7in or so long. I know it will fit but are there any risks doing this such as too much heat exposure from being so close to the motor? Seen it done on pullers but never on a DD.

Thanks

running a turbo mount can cause MAJOR probs due to the higher amounts of suction I have seen 2 guys have there turbos eat there air filter because they were turbo mounts and DIRTY lack of air = more restriction = harder suction = air filter in turbo :hehe:

why would you spend 78 dollars on one? :hehe::hehe::hehe:
ya no kidding you need to get the right BHAF there only 20-40

Yea i had the white one at the top. But as long as I make a heat shield, i dont see why i cant spend half the money, and get better performance.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a douche.. K&N's (specifically) are notorious for lettin through lots of yucky stuff.

Friends don't let friends use K&N's.

What CFM does the BHAF flow? My turbo flows 1080 CFM at 81lbs. Most intakes that I have found only flow in the 600-700 range. Just seems that I am starving the truck for air. I got it, might as well use it... right
