Check on the Banks site for cleaning instructions. Cleaning method would depend on the oil used. K&N oil can be washed off with Simple Green. My Maxima oil takes Mineral Spirits.
Did you ever wonder why the original owner sold it so fast?
Do a search using the function above for wet air filters and you will have a lot of reading to do on how bad those things are.
