Ok my air bag light keeps going on and off. Every time I turn the wheel the famous DING happens and the air bag light is back on. Go straight and it goes off almost instantly. I've take'n it out several times now to try and look for loose connections or some thing but can't find any thing? Any one else had this issue? Is it a connection in the column or the yellow wire harness or what? HELP! The dang DING is driving me crazy. :banghead:

What the heck is a clock spring? Would that be what I would ask for from the dealer and where is it?

It connects the airbag though the steering column. i.e. as you rotate the steering wheel, the clockspring winds and unwinds, depending on which direction you are turning.

I'll see if I can find a picture.

Ok I know what u are talking about now. The big black thing in the center around the shaft. Is that easily removed with out pulling the whole steering wheel off or not? Do u know about the price on one by chance. Btw thx for the info.

You have to pull the steering wheel.

Nope. Your best bet is to call the dealer. An auto parts store MIGHT have them. I know the aftermarket produces them for some VW models.
