Looking at options to add remote start to my 2017 Tradesman. Want something with better distance than the stock unit. What are you guys running and how is it holding up?

I ran a Viper 5901 on my last truck, loved it. It was similar to what they now call the "LCD2 way". Great range, tons of accessories and addons available, loved the options and display on the fob.

Ok I spend way to much time in this section as I have an 05. Anyway I have remote start on mine. I use it in the winter/colder days. High idle goes on but when I get in and turn the key the fan/ heat will start. Shouldn't that be the whole idea of remote start? To get into a semi warm truck when it's cold out?

I have an Excalibur and have been very happy with it, also what I used on my old dodge for over 5 years with no problems

My last truck with the Viper turned on everything, and also had settings to auto-start at a certain temp for heat or AC. It would start the truck and run whatever you had on at a set high (AC) or low (Heat) point. You could also use the fob to read in cab temp. It was a great feature but I had to explain to several angry people, about to break out my window, that my dog wasnt in danger.

My current truck with the factory remote start also turns everything on, you just cant put it in drive.

Not sure what unit you have in your truck, but I am guessing something isnt hooked up properly.
