Hey guys-

Just bought my first Cummins. I had a powerstroke previously, which had a 3" stock exhaust, so I upgraded to 4".

I understand this truck has a 4" stock. The previous owner put a phat shaft turbo on, deleted the cat, and added a full flow Magnaflow muffler. The mechanic he used built a lot of Dodges (was a Chrysler diesel mechanic) and told him it didn't need an exhaust since the stock was so large, provided he deleted the cat and swapped the muffler.

Just wondering if there'd be any benefit to changing the exhaust. Thanks!

Kinda what it thought. Thanks!

Plus for aesthetics, I put a 6" stainless tip on it anyway ;)

Keep the 4" all that needed unless going crazy for big numbers or fast times!

Would deleting the cat and putting a better muffler on a stock exhaust make the EGT's a little cooler and also provide a little better sound? I want a little better sound but not is much that you can hear it in the cab.

Yup. That's exactly why the po did that to this truck. He would have done complete exhaust except that it's already 4".
