Looking at a truck with afc live, curious as to whether I would need an EGT gauge as it is currently stock with the only mod being the afc live and no EGT. Could this have caused any issues?

Anytime your adding extra fuel and don't know how to control your right foot it's good to have a EGT gauge. As far as any harm to the engine now probably not or you'd be able to notice it.

You don't really need an egt gauge on a 94 or 95 truck on stock Injectors unless you drive like a complete idiot.

Keep the smoke down, don't lug and stay away from trailers and you will probably be fine.

Egt gauges are always a good idea though.

You can certainly over temp a '97 with stock injectors. If nothing else, EGT, boost and fuel pressure gauges aid immensely in troubleshooting.

I question why someone would buy an AFC live for an otherwise stock engine.

More details- I was looking for a stock truck, the closest I found was this- a 97, built automatic, 5inch exhaust, aFe intake, and AFC live. No EGT gauge. I want reliability, mpg, and to be able to tow safely

If you want a reliable truck then get some gauges, at least if you notice a problem your gauges maybe able to help you troubleshoot.

If there's paperwork and you can verify that it's actually "built," and not just some BS, then that's a GREAT addition, because the stock tranny config was garbage. It would slip the torque converter with stock power, partly because the converter was junk, and partly because the valve body setup was terrible.

At the very minimum, that tranny should have a stout aftermarket torque converter and valve body work, with some other upgrades as well. Stock clutches, etc. are fine.
