Aeroturbine 4040 and no cat

I have a 2007 5.9 currently with a muffler delete and I am looking looking for it to be a little louder. Anyone know how it would sound with an aero 4040 and no cat??

don't know if this video will help or not but, I have just what you're asking about although I have stacks too. The Aero muffler is a excellent one IMO. I don't have any drone and it's not too loud but..... just right :)

8500lbs outlaw pull off run
do you think it will be louder than the set up i have right now?
if you don't have a muffler on it now, it's probably going to be quieter. IMO, if you haven't, get rid of the resonator and cat while you're at it. You can loose up to 100F in egt temps without them. Try it with just a muffler, if it's too loud...put the resonator back on.
I just have the resonator on right now with no muffler I want it louder but not as loud as a straight pipe, but with the aero I was going to take off the resonator and just put in the aero 4040.
I have the 4040XL and let me tell you, it was loud with the cat off. I drove it for a week and put the cat back on.
not trying to be a smarta$$ but a muffler is going to muffle the sound, so i don't think its going to give you what you want. If you want to keep a muffler on it try to fine a straight through design and the shorter the more sound will go through.
how loud comparing to a straight pipe?

IMO, I would remove the cat and keep the 4040 and see what you think. I can guarantee it is much louder than you might think. The 4040 makes it sound nicer than just having a straight pipe IMO.
Thanks, Im going to try to get it installed before the end of the week

Keep us posted. I want to know what you think. The 4040 does sound very nice, and if you want loud, then take the cat off and you will hear loud.
I have the 4040XL with the cat deleted. It sounds great, not to loud or with any drone quite at highway speeds but louder when you get into the pedal. If you put it further back next to the axle (12" away from the bend for the axle) you will be happy and get no drone, the 4040XL has a small resonator in it that will keep drone done but not restrict the flow.
I've got that set up with a 5" stack and it's loud but not as loud as the striaght pipe. Compared to the magnaflow 4" perf muffler the areo sounds alot better.

That used to be my exact setup, for about 2 1/2 years. I honestly loved the sound. Sounds even better than straight pipe I thought...I often thought it sounded very close to straight pipe, but without that edge that you get with it. Trust me it sounds really good.
I ended taking mine off as I just spent too much time in the truck, and hauling a heavy load or high speeds on the highway I would get some nasty drone.
The 4040 is more of a resonator...one look at it and you will see. It's not cheap either.
i had it. very deep and tame. but i got sick of it. wanted a more bada$$ sound
FYI don't do it(single stack that is) if you have a regular cab. I double layered my entire cab with Dynamat sound proof and it's still loud and has a drone to some extent. I moved my stack over to the passenger side and it helped a little. I do like the sound of the 4040 b/c it's deep but not to deep and you can hear my turbo alot better in the cab now hahaha
i have the 4040xl set up and wouldnt change it. good deep sound with out the drone and the straight pipe loud
I have the non-resonated areo turbine only and never get tired of the sound. But thats just me, I like noise! The main reason i got the areo was so the truck would pass inspection.
So let me get this right, I have a straight pipe. If I put a aero 4040 with no resonator, I'll be perfectly legal but still be almost as loud as having a straight?

I got the 4040 installed today and the cat taken off. It sounds awsome and is pretty comparable to a straight pipe just without the raspyness and not any drone on the highway at about 70mph. Gas mileage went up from 18mpg to about 21mpg with mix driving.
