Ok you smokemongers, I need your sage advice.
I have to retire the 1998.5 3500 quad cab. My 11 year old won't fit in the back seat anymore, and I don't need the dually anymore.
Main purpose, hauling fishing gear with the possibility of a med sized camp trailer, 4x4.... pretty hairy but I managed with the 3500, minus some fillings, and having to have my live switched back to the right side due to the "ride" of a ton'r on trails...

Thinking 05-07.5 2500 4x4 megacab, Std trany and a weeeee bit of a lift kit. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. For the sake of sanity I'll steer away from the 6.7 due to the fact I don't do mods (ok BHAF), and don't want to mess with pulling egr's and emissions crap.
I get 17.8 MPG in town and 21.3 at 65-70mph on the highway. Is that doable with the 05-06 stock out of the box?

Some report those MPG numbers but to frank they are few and far between and are not the normal. The 12v motors always got better mileage. Expect to get around 17-18 mpg on the highway. A mild program, stock tires, 3.73's and light on the skinny pedal will help.
