Hey guys so over the weekend I put my S362sxe and Quadzilla on the truck. Truck also has head studs but stock injectors because power driven diesel sent me the wrong nozzles. I’m waiting for them to send me the right ones but I wanted to go ahead and try tuning the truck on the stock injectors.

Right now the truck feels pretty good. The power kind of comes on late because I don’t have the quad fueling hard enough in low boost so it doesn’t pick up until 8psi or so and then I can really feel it ramping in the fuel. I want to raise the low end fueling but would it be best to make my wiretap come on sooner or raise the canbus fueling down low? Thanks

Also I forgot but the truck will sometimes pop and sputter in 2nd gear way up at like 2500+rpm. Truck is a 6 speed and it only happens in 2nd

Yeah I’ve read that forwards and backwards a few times, that’s how I made my base tune.

Gotcha, I figured it was a timing thing. I’ll make a few adjustments and see how she does. Thanks!!

Yep,

Timing can help, but it won't overcome to little fuel in the tune.

run as much canbus fuel as possible before smoke happens then adjust timing to get better response.

How much canbus is too much? I bumped it up to 115% 0-4 psi then ramping up from there hitting 140% at 15 psi. I dropped my max timing slightly. The truck feels a lot better but still doesn’t match how it felt down low with the smarty s-03. Still doesn’t smoke, needs more fuel down low I think. I can’t wait to get the right injectors in it.

Also, my boost gauge isn’t matching what the quad is reading off the map sensor. At 10 psi on my boost gauge the quad is reading 7 psi. My boost gauge also shows boost coming on earlier. It’ll be at ~2-3 psi before the quad relays 1psi. So that might not be helping?

Add fuel until it smokes. Make sure you are testing by going WOT. The butt dyno says the S03 is stronger, but that is only because of the relationship between throttle input and duration. The S-03 would max duration, IE setting 0 psi to %150, on every tune other than Sw3 by very low throttle input.

boost building delayed might cause some of the issue, older sensors are worse. but not a huge issue unless boost reading is jumpy.

you won't hurt anything by setting the entire canbus map to %150. I promise you the truck will smoke and jump out of it's own tires. Not a great tune, but it shows where the butt dyno can lie.

I went ahead and swapped my 100hp nozzles back in while I wait for PDD to send me the correct ones. The truck runs way better but I am having some turbo lag. I know 100s are less than ideal for an s362 but when I’m on the highway around 1600-1750rpms whether I’m in 5th or 6th the turbo takes several seconds to spool.

What adjustments can I make to help in this area?

I can mat it and tell the quad isn’t really fueling for a couple of seconds then boost starts to build and once I get over about 12psi the fuel rushes in and the turbo pegs 36psi instantly and the truck is off. But the time between me matting it and the turbo getting to 12psi is at the very least 3 seconds. Sometimes 4-5. Hard to tell for sure. If I already have 4-5psi built it’s much quicker but if I’m light on the throttle and then mat it to pass someone I’m waiting several seconds before I’m passing.

On my canbus map I have it set to where the truck will barely haze up to around 15psi.

The turbo is an sxe 62/68/12. I know it’s bigger than stock and will be slower to spool and I know my current injectors aren’t ideal but this seems like a bit much

So today I finally got my 7x.012s installed. The truck ran awesome. Was driving to my father in laws and it died. Won’t restart. Did my vp44 die?

No codes when I scan with my smarty s-03. Truck just cranks and cranks. Shows 225rpm when cranking. Two good batteries. Good fuel pressure.

Just wanna make sure before I order a new pump

That is exactly what happened. Got the injectors in, bled it (took forever), drove it about 10 miles and it ran perfectly. Started giving it heavy throttle and it felt great. Then I cut the throttle really quick during a pull and the truck died. Wouldn’t start back up. Went home got my wrench and re bled it and it finally started back up. Drove it about 10 miles again. Went and filled it up. Runs fine now.

If you plan to really get on it make sure you’re mindful of how quickly you let out of it. If you’re an auto guy just let out slower, if you have a manual then as soon as you mash the clutch in after a hard pull blip the throttle a little and you should be fine.

Gotcha, it’s right on the money then. This truck rips now. Broke the 37s loose in 4th gear.

So with my new 7x.012s obviously I had to pull the Canbus fueling waay back. But now when I’m taking off there is a lull at 950rpm.

Starting out it goes through 900 rpm fine hits 950 and pulls out a bunch of fuel then at 1000rpm it goes back to normal.
I’m assuming this has to do with the way the quad pulls the fuel out.

I’ve got my Canbus starting at 65% or so at 0psi and slowly ramping from there. Should I try bumping the 0psi value way up, like near 80%? I’m pretty sure that would fix it but it doesn’t seem like the best way to me.
