well it is getting hot down here in houston...my compressor seems to be bad at least according to dodge its leaking freon..
i found a shop but they quoted me 1500 to replace condensor, dryer, orficle tube, and compressor with a full charge

how hard would it be to replace the compressor, dryer, orficle tube and condensor

also if i did replace it i do not have the tools to charge it so i would drive my truck to a shop to get it charge would that hurt the new compressor??

It's not a huge job, everything is for the most part right out it the open, when you go to the shop after to get it charged just run with the windows down and the defrost and AC off as the compressor clutch will free spin as an idler pulley until the AC or defrost is turned on again.

Under no circumstances should the oil go in with the refridgerent gas.The second you start the motor it will bust the compressor cause oil can't be compressed.Look on top of the compressor, there's a plug there. That's where the oil goes in.I should clear up, a very small amount of oil can go in with the ac gas but a new compressor will require far to much oil to be put in this way. Also there's a specific amount needed depending on the ac system.

My robinaire machine charges on the high side. No worry of sucking in oil from the low side.

A good technician will check the new compressor for oil anyway. I found some were marked "without oil" only to find them full. I'm certain in any case they would not have used expensive pag oil for the fill.

If you're replacing the parts above figure about 5-6 ounces of oil.

well i am going to try and replace parts..the condesor looks easy but one question on the passenger side where a black metal house goes up from bottom to top near radiator it turns into a silver tube and has a round part on it...does it just twist on/off or do i need special tools to get the tubing off.

Special tool.

It is the same as a fuel line and AC quick connect. 1/2" I believe. You can usually get a set of all the sizes (like 6) for 10 bucks.
