Well when i bought my truck the ac worked great and all of a sudden it stopped working that was 2 years ago hahah. I didnt mind it too much but now im putting the truck up for sale and want to get it going. The compressor would kick on for a second but wouldnt stay on. I jumped the switch on the accumulator and it stayed on and was low so i added some freon and it was blowing cold air no problem in the cab as soon as i took the jumper off and hooked the accumulator back up i had the same issue of the compressor not staying on anyone know what the problem could be? any help would be appreciated thanks.

With it hooked up normally, will it come on and blow cold then go out? and not blow cold again?

You don't have enough pressure in the ac system.Put in more refridgerent to up the system psi and the ac should come on.

could be that but he said he already charged it.? if he did and its still doing it, it could be a spacer behind the clutch on the compressor worn smooth causing it to disengage.

The ac does not blow cold once its hooked up again. When I had it jumped i was reading 30 out of the low side and i think 200 out of the high side. Is this normal or should i add more. Also when i did jump it and added freon the ac was blowing cold but not freezing like it used too be thanks for all the replies guys.

Well the reason I think his psi is still low is because he said it cycles fine when he jumps the low pressure switch on the accumulator but stops when it's hooked up.Really he needs pressure gauges to see whats in the ac, only safe way to know whats going on.

Hmmm I forget whats on the low pressure side but the high pressure side should be round the 150psi.Thats with the ac compressor running. If you do have 200psi thats far to much. That low pressure cut out switch on the accumulator might be faulty but check the ac psi out first.

When the compressor is off it jumps up to about 65 is that normal or is it unsafe idk if i need to add more to keep the compressor on longer. thanks for all the help guys

It's normal for the pressure to rise on the low pressure side when the ac compressor stops.

I'm pretty sure they screw out like a tire tube valve. It's called a shrader valve (not sure about the spelling there) look up rockauto.com or somewhere that does ac stuff.

No, the high side service port is a ball valve. I buy mine at the Chevy dealer ($5)

I looked up the number it's a FJC 2576
Yeah i just noticed they are the ball valve type that part number will work for an 01 and from a chevy? Or do i need to go to the dodge dealer. thanks for the help
