Well, i have to haul a 24' trailor (empty cargo v-nose) to Norht Carolina in the morning, the truck is a 6 speed manual, i assume i need to haul this thing in 5th right :confused013:

Whats the best programmer for hauling light loads and pure highway miles? I want something i can get better fuel economy with and also add performance when i want to...

And lastly...how good are the Triple Dogs w/ Crazy Larry? Are they safe to use?

Heres a pic of my new ride (i just removed the top if anyone is interested)...

6th gear is fine as long as you are not lugging it.

As far as programmers go, I haven't tried one but the Smarty Jr seems to be the one to go with these days. Personally I have never gotten a mileage increase from a programmer. As long as it doesn't go down then I don't mind that.
If you really want to get the best mileage then stay in the 60-65mph range. Once you go over that the mileage starts dropping quickly...

:ditto: I agree with what Mike said. If you're not familiar with hauling through the mountains, just get a good feel for your truck on the first couple hills. If you have gauges, watch the exhaust temp. If you don't have gauges, then pay attention to the truck itself. If the truck starts lugging, your EGTs will be going up and you don't want that. It never hurts to have more rpms to keep your egts down

Plus since that trailer is empty you won't have any trouble at all. Empty mileage works the same way too. Keep the speed down the the mileage will be up. I had an 07 5.9 6-speed truck and once I hit around 80 mph my mileage was the same as my city numbers.

Thanks guys, driving it home the other night i could see that cruzin a 75mph the fuel average gauge would consistantly drop every 15 miles or so. Thanks alot for the tips, i plan on gettin some gauges and maybe reworking to exhaust to keep the egt's down, i just dont want it too loud, thats what i have an SRT-10 for ;)
