I know it's been said not to use the 99-02 HX35 with compounds but my HX is in great condition with the wastegate drilled out and everything...

"We do NOT recommend using this kit with 99-02 trucks having the wastegate mounted directly to the compressor cover as they cannot easily be "clocked" to the needed configuration. (crazycarl)"

Has anyone sucessfully used this HX35 with a set of compounds?

I have heard a lot of compounds that use the HX35 and put an S475, S472 or HT3B underneath it. They are supposed to be a great set of budget compounds and I believe that there are a lot of places that sell kits to bolt them right up. They have also been said to have great street driving manors.

it works just fine if you use any common sense with the clocking. Wastegate mounting sucks but a simple flat plate extension bracket solves the mounting issue.

Thanks for the pics! I haven't looked at it too hard yet but when I get home from sea in a few weeks I'll be driving into the project... I think I'll attempt what you did there first and if not just a spring waste gate should do the job.

There are no mounting points on the housing to mount traditional spring gates. You will have to fab a bracket off the turbo mounting bolts.

Also, spring gates only open off of drive pressure, which works fine but isnt always ideal for every situation. I found the tuning better using a j hook of sorts to hold the puck closed against drive pressure, but using the stock diaphram acuator to over come that spring pressure . It can be done many ways.
