Minor correction to terminology. "Spin over" is Crank. Run or fire are Run. No crank is starter not cranking it over.

Codes are usually fairly accurate.
Does the Tach move up to 200 or so during starter cranking?
336 Code indicates a bod crank shaft position sensor. It is usually just that but can be a bad connection in the harness between the sensor and the VP
Crank sensor is behind the starter on side of the block, fairly easy replacement usually. Do not buy cheapest available. Get name brand or good store brand.

A bad crank sensor will cause it to miss, die after starting or not start at all. Same goes for a bad wire. However, the tach not showing 200 when cranking is a good definitive symptom that no signal is being received from or sent by the sensor.

A bad crank sensor may not throw a code and may cause a no-start or intermittent no-start situation. I had this happen twice. The 1st replacement was a Cummins sensor and the 2nd was a Wells. The Wells is still working (unless it quit last night). Don't condemn the sensor until every other cause has been eliminated.

Bur in this case he does have a code for the sensor signal. No communication means the ECM is not getting a signal from the sensor. It is a common issue.
