I have a 98.5 24v cummins. when it shifts from 45-50mph the motor jumps up and down around 200-300RPMS's all my fluid are fresh and up to par. Have any of you cummins guys ever heard of a problem like this. However if im excelerating quick, like getting on the freeway then it does not do it, only when im creeping up to the 40-50mph. Any ideas would be helpfull.

Thanks again!

Is it the converter locking and unlocking?

It could be an APPS related problem. A bad APPS sensor will usually cause surging problems and cause the torque converter to lock/unlock on auto-equipped trucks. There are several similar surge-related issues that affect auto 24 valve trucks so it would be best to do a search and go through the list of remedies.

I do not have any mods yet, just cold air intake. when the truck is kicked out of overdrive at 30mph is when the converter locks and unlocks. When the truck is in overdrive at 46mph the converter locks and unlocks.

My converter was locking and unlocking and I did a APPS reset and it completely stopped it. I have also heard of putting a ferrous yoke on the alternator wire to stop it. Do a search on APPS reset and give a try first because it is really easy. If you search "ferrous yoke" you will probly find the thread where the guy put one on his truck and fixed it. You can get them at Radio Shack

It might also pay to go to DTT.com and check out their noise filter. My truck did it so bad that I quit driving it. GAVE DTT a call, and for around 60 bucks,it fixed my problem. It is also a sinch to install as well.
