Hello All
I have been restoiring my 1994 Dodge Ram 3500 Cab and Chassis. When I bought the truck new in 94 it was used commercially and I did not add cruise control at that time or power windows. Now that I am retired and still own the truck I wanted to add more ammenities so to speak. I added power windows and door locks which went in nicely since the truck was prewired for that feature SLT. It also is prewired for cruise control which I have now installed the components. Servo, vacuum reservoir and switch. I have been wondering if I can do some electrical checks on the cruise system to verify it is working before driving truck. I bought a 3 button switch but realized since I did more studying my truck in 94 would have had the 4 button switch. (4 pin Harness) The 3 button switch with light has three pins. My harness has 4 wires. When I turn the igniton on no light comes on on the 3 button switch I am guessing I need the 4 button switch?? The servo I aquired connected to the factory plug just fine . I did check the connector (4 pin) for power and did not see 12v on any of the pins. I did change my clock spring and the horn now works and no airbag light is on which was on with the broken clockspring so that is good. In reading the service manual it shows contiuity checks to perform which I have yet to do. Since I dont have a full understanding of how the cruise control works I would appreciate an overview anyone can give me how it operated in this era of truck. For instance does truck need to be running for cruise light to come on. Can I use the 3 pin swich with the 4 wire haness etc. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
