new here but always directed to these forums in the google machine. just picked this truck up a few weeks ago and had a charging issue which turned out to be bad connections to power and ground. So now here is the new problem. I Was driving the other day and tried to roll the window down and it acted like it was stuck. Now anytime I hit the window buttons the wait to start, abs, and water in fuel come on. It also does this when I try to turn on the heat but the heat blower doesn't work when activated. if I don't try the windows or heat all the lights go off. trid buying fuseable links from autozone but they don't fit and came with a hardwiring kit which I do not want to do. any ideas. light goes off to if I pull the 30 amp fuse under dash

First thing to do when having electrical issues is to clean and tighten grounds, battery cables and clamps.

Engine to body should be a ground at back of engine to firewall.

i checked to find that ground and it doesn't exsistvor I cant find it......only grounds I see are from the altantor to front of block and from battery to block then I have a few 10-12 guage grounds from battery to core support. I added one ground from negative side of battery to inner fender then I added one from block to fire wall (4 gauge) that didn't solve my problem so I replace ignition switch and now all the lights come on like they are supposed to (wait to start ) but my blower and windows still do not work

Your blower and windows could be a fusible link, they are located on top of the left fenderwell.

Mine literally did this a few days ago. Used a power probe and sent power to the power side of the circuit breaker slot on the fuse block. Was able to roll my window up and blower had power. Replaced the 30 amp circuit breaker with no luck. The lights went off for a bit but are back on. Still no windows and no blower on the ac/heat. Need to find time to trouble shoot some more.

I tried replacing links but autozone and orielys do not fit. I swapped all the links around and still nothing....... at a loss for words and I will not "decomputerize" this truck... seems like to much patients ..... see what the mechanic says I guess, im tired of mesing with it.

last truck I never replaced the heater core for two winters so this will be the third winter with no heat.... pretty used to it now

The orange fusible link is the feed for the power windows and heater.

hey so I took one last look at my fuse panel to find the ''orange wire'' and I found it. but heres the thing.... its wired into the 30 amp breaker then someone inlined it with a 30 amp fuse to the breaker and to the orange wire. I pull the fuse and all was good. replace the breaker and still nothing then.. I put a multi meter on it and all the sudden heat and windows work.... so what could of been the problem.... loose connection. all works for now:drool2:

Some will use a inline fuse in place of the fusible link when it burn. Sounds like a bad connection somewhere.

If it happens again you'll know where to look.

The first thing I do when theres electrical issues involving the dash is look under and get a good sniff. I have had more than one Dodge catch fire under there. One wire melts and contacts others , next thing stuff is live then dead its a mess.

But thats just me. My first truck was a '74 D200 CC. One day the speedo filled with smoke. After I sold it it burned to the ground:shock:
