Second time in last 6 month this has happened. First time backed in to parking. Went to leave and 4th gear limp mode. Restarted it and it went away.

Last week 4th limp mode again. In parking lot, got in to go and stuck on 4th. Shut down and restart it went away.

Took truck to have diesel shop scan for codes, pending codes.... came up with nothing related to the drivetrain. Got some weird door codes and egr related codes but that's it.

Fluid changed at 60k... At 128k now. Basically no tow... once every few years.

Got new fluids and filters... going to do this weekend. Just wondering if there is anything I should look for once the pan is off...

Check your batteries and all connections between the batteries, TIPM, ECM, TCM, and trans as well as ground straps. Random limp mode with no codes pointing to TCM doesn’t sound right for a grocery getter (ie not regularly towing) unless you’re driving it like every stop light is a .500 pro tree. Weak batteries can cause all manner of seemingly inexplicable faults and usually accompanied by completely unrelated codes.

Hope this helps.

Didn't think to check batteries. We have weird weather down here. 40's yesterday... 70's today. Batteries don't last too long here with these temperature fluctuations. Nothing past 3 years so far.

Will look at connections.
