i have an 06 drw with a six speed. Im looking for a good 6" lift that will have a good ride and road manners but will also take some abuse. i know long arm is better but wont put 1 on. the reason being is i usually will run my truck till about 80-90K then lower it back down and hook it to the landscape trailer and work it for the rest of its life. i have heard some good things about the revtek alot of people with it and no complaints and looks as though they really thought it out and looks to be a nice complete kit. the other that looks fairly good is the fabtech i like how they gusset the ends of there controls arms. any other ideas or personal experiences with other lifts and what would u recomend? thanks for the help.

A good beefy short arm kit wold be the Pure Performance 6" X-Factor system with a set of Bilsteins. The adjustable control arms are solid cold rolled steel with a poly bushing on one end and a spherical joint on the other.

i had origanaly looked at that kit after my buddy put an 8" long arm in his truck almost 2 years ago with thos arms. the problem he had with them was with the spherical joints in the front the sand and salt in the winter around hear is murder on them with the salt getting in there and wearing them out. he would wash is truck but you go 20 miles down the road in the winter and its all covered with salt again. maybe it was a fluke thing i dont know. the other disaster we had was getting it aligned corectly sense there isnt an alignment shop around here that has a clue on how to adjust them corectly it was a nightmare.

Pure Performance is in New York and we are in MI so we both see our fair share of road salt.:banghead:

Here is a resonse that I got from Jeremy about the joints in salty environments:

We are in NY so we deal with plenty of salt and road debris in the winter time. That is the reason our joints look the way they do with the tight flanges. The flanges act as a wiper to clean the ball of dirt and debris as it rotates. In the winter time the easiest thing to do when the truck is clean is to simply spray the outside of the joint with WD-40 or something similar.

Even for his friend, like I said that does not mean the joints were bad. What happens when sodium chloride or calcium chloride or magnesium chloride which is the most common materials used for keep the roads clear gets into the joints, it actually causes the raceways to dry up a bit and swell. This makes the joints extremely tight. All the owner needs to do is simply take them apart, clean them, service them and put them back together. Then they will be good to go again

maybe i will look into them more the other thing i had noticed with the kit is instead of a drop pit it has a link flip never heard or delt with 1. the other question is with the kit do they have a good step by step on how to propperly align that front axle by adjusting the control arms i know that if u unscrew to much they be week because of the lack of thread in side that way there the alignment shop will only have to adjust the camber bolts?
