I'm getting ready to make the big trip from Alaska to Ohio, and I'm trying to estimate my fuel consumption. I'll be towing a 24' enclosed car hauler at about 8-9K pounds. I estimated 8 MPG because of the mountains and the current MPG of just the truck at 12-13MPG city and 17 hwy, am I being to conservative?

Chris
I am getting a little better then that but for a stock truck that sounds good.

I think my last trip with about 9500 lbs i got close to 17 MPG

I got 8-9 pulling my 4500lb empty enclosed trailer around. Hopefully you will get better if you drive conservatively. It's hard to do when you have a long way to go though...

Try to keep it under 2000rpms for best mileage.
