I was looking at AH64ID's post about adding a coolant filter to a 5.9 and started thinking about putting one on my truck. I'm assuming that the easiest place to get to the jacket water would be to use the EGR cooler plumbing after delete as a feed and return, only question is how much flow do you guys think goes through the EGR cooler? It seems there are "full flow" and bypass (internal restrictor) coolant filters and I'm thinking that a full flow version might be the way to go since I think there is not much flow restriction through the EGR cooler. Main reason I want to do this is the 10 oz. of casting sand that my friend got out of his 7.3 Ford using a coolant filter. Any thoughts appreciated.

I went the bypass route, becuase thats still a bit of flow, and its not enough to steal too much heat from the engine in winter, but enough to have secondary effects like reduced pressure and heat.
