^^ Are you joking around?
No. Injectors is a known problem on the 03-07 5.9... 06 is a electrical night mare.. the 68rfe cost an arm and a leg to rebuild, alot fail on stock power. So spending 3-5g on a 6.0 to "bullet proof" it is right around the same as the other two when either the injecters fail or the trans fails..

At least with injectors you can upgrade them while they're out, same with the trans. Bulletproofing a ford has almost no performance gains. Last time I checked, I didn't pull the cab to any injector or studding in a Dodge.

I feel bad for the guys that own Ford diesels and smoke cigs. Having to take the cab off to use the cigarette lighter every time would be a PITA.

You don't even want to know what's involved in changing a brake light bulb or windshield wipers:LOL:

You dont have to pull the cab on a 6.0 for injectors or studs.. you have to pull the cab on the 6.4 for pretty much anything

You have to cut the factory head bolt out and beat up the cab on the #9 head bolt/stud. It can be done and I have, but most of my customers don't appreciate it. There's a "way" to do things, or there's the right way. Ford engineered the cabs to come off for any major service.

Now, I really hope Caleb is joking around... :)

The good news is that you will be able to find a clean, low mile 6.0 or 6.4L Powerstroke Superduty.
Most are sitting around up on blocks and haven't added any miles or rust or dents in over 10 years.

And for some strange reason, tons of older 2nd and 3rd Gen Cummins trucks are still running around with tons of miles, beat up, rusted out, still doing work every day.

Defeats my whole purpose on going pre emission though. If i had a 6.7 powerstroke it would have to be missing key epa systems. While some people think they do good. I think they are worse for the climate, and engine reliability

I just went through this myself lol. I have a built 05 with billet 6.7 swap yada yada and the cab started rusting. Drive me crazy seeing my 50k dollar investment rotting. So I started searching for a clean rust free grandpa truck. Found it after months of searching up in Washington state. California truck with the so abomination tune but that doesn't matter. I live in Vermont so I had it shipped to me sight unseen minus pictures. It was definitely worth the wait and extra money to ship. Just take your time, I suspect very soon people will be trading their truck for bread with this F'n corrupt dolt running things. If I ever meet one of you Bribem voters I will kick you straight in the balls! Rant over lol but make sure to check Arizona, Oregon and Washington they usually have several clean 3rd gens. Or just keep your truck and learn to tune! I believe the metric tunes are free on comp D.

All these mods. I have a stock 2007 2500 with the 5.9L and Mercedes G56. Why isn't stock good enough? Trucks are for carrying lots of stuff. Bought it for $24K in 2015 with 82K on the odometer. Nice feature is a nice ARE camper shell that I can at least stand up in (hunched over). Didn't know how good I was going to have it. Just needed a good scrubbing inside and out. There were so many of those smelly christmas tree odor things, it took a steam cleaning and some years for the smell to go away. That and vaccuming up at least a bowl of Cheerios from the prior owner's kiddie seat in the back.

What mods do you have done to your 68RFE?

It's the worst transmission I've ever owned by far made worse in combination by the factory shift points. I would pay good money to put a G56 in but before I go there I was going to try a new valve body and higher line pressures. I was also going to try making my own TCM tune because the ones that I have tried hold third gear way too long.

I have heard the 4.5 gen and up 68RFE are a different beast because of a new valve body and also better gearing.
No problems here 2007.5 3500 drw original 68REFE with 245000 miles.stays loaded and hooked to skidsteer and trailer weighting 15000lbs.big speaker magnet on trans pan ,I change fluid every 50000 miles.3rd to 4th gear really long best to manuel shift and let off throttle briefly to allow to shift and lock in.i do plan to add line pressure increase as well.with the spring and harness swap.

Ive decided im going to sell mine, or try too. Not going to give it away. Worrying about the trans and headgasket all the time when i drive it, is what was the tipping point on the decision

Lmao, “worrying” about imaginary problems so much you’re selling the truck. i have had several trucks before landing on my 08 6.7, mine were as reliable. This truck just works. I fix what’s broke and move on. Every older truck is going to have problems you just learn to deal. Have you considered a Subaru?

68rfe and head gaskets are a known 6.7 problem.

With early H&S tuning, yes. Even so, common sense goes a long way - we are not in 2011 anymore

Keep up on the service and don't hammer on it in 5-6th and you should get years of trouble free miles. Your a step ahead having 3.73's.

I suggest you watch this if you haven't before.

The prior years are not without fault by any stretch of the imagination.
