If you are getting that with 36's consider yourself lucky.....

To answer you question honestly, the only way is to ditch those big tires and slow down. ANY kind of tuning/chip is going to void your warranty and to be honest isn't going to gain you a whole lot over what you are getting now.

That ain't bad fuel economy for a big truck with big tires lol. I got about that or less with 33x11.5" tires on my leveled 2010 Ram 1500 w/ a 4.7L.

Best thing you can do is slow down and increase tire pressure. Alternatively, emissions in-tact tuning would make the truck a little bit more fun to drive and pick up a little bit of fuel economy (1-2 MPG at most). I assume this would void your warranty though.

What gears do you have?

I'm guessing he's on 3.73 gears which is the best economy for the 19-up trucks (prior was 3.42's)

36" tires are probably decently heavy, increase the tire pressures a bit and watch your speed - you're not going to gain more than maybe 1mpg with intact tuning and probably similar even if you did 'weight loss' tuning -

I'd probably drop down to 35's which are not much heavier than stock tires, reduce the weight by getting lighter wheels, etc -

Do you have a bed cover? I never saw a mileage change when adding mine but curious-

I would think 35’s with 3.73 would be cut down to a 3.20 , with a diesel power lose would be minimal , with a gas I think would be pretty noticeable ?
Factory tires on my 2018 SRW 3500 were 34.25" tall. 6.4 Hemi. They pretty much come with 35's stock now.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

My 2015 has 285/60/r20 from the factory which is ~ 33.5" if you go by the calculation. However, I measured them not long ago and I'm pretty sure they were 34.5" Maybe I have 285/65/r20's now. I'll have to check.

Going to a 35" tire from that factory size is a 5% reduction in RPM. or based on 4WheelGregs Post, like going from a 3.73 to a 3.54. I agree with Wombat, I don't think most of these engines would even notice this change.

Exactly my point. You said it would be a 15% change. Reality is 0-2% change depending on the exact tire.

Glad we're on the same page.

All Rams come with a 33" or 33.5" tire. 35 is a noticeable step up on my Cummins with the stupid 3.42 rear end; I'm sure the Hemi and 3..73 can take 35's without too much power/mpg loss.

I'm curious how/if the new TT HO inline V-6 will do in the 3/4 ton. Much more powerful than the 6.4 Hemi.

Have they gone down to smaller tires? Or are you interpreting product spec sheets and arguing against my firsthand tape measure experience?
