Basically, I'm trying to find out if i am missing a foam sound deadening piece on my transmisssion hump shifter hole on the 5 spd 1995. All I have is a rubber water tight gasket and then the leather looking cover. No foam element at all, so lots of tranny noise and engine noise coming through. Is there a foam insert for these things?

Also, how loud are the 5 spd when idling with the clutch out? I have a GM truck with an NV4500 and it's not that loud. An y ideas. It seems strong and no issues mech. just had a new Southbend clutch in.

Any info appreciated,
Thanks

Mines the same way with the two boots only.

You could add insallation if you wanted but the cummins is just a noisy engine in general, especially compared to any GM

It turned out that both covers were not sealed correctly, allowing more noise through.
I think I'll get some jute for sound deadening...

Thanks Gents.
