Is it worth it to go from 4" to 5" exhaust? Don't want to waist money if it's not. Thanks

Performance wise it won't do anything unless you are running 800+ hp. All you will gain is a deeper sound.

Ok thanks. I'm no where near that. I like what it sounds like now, so I'll just save my money for other stuff and if I get there I'll go bigger.

It shouldn't hurt performance. Diesels need very little back pressure compared to a gasoline powered engine. The turbo and bends in the exhaust will provide adequate back pressure.

it will actually hurt your performance to go to 5" with what you have done currently.

as stated only required when north of 750-1000 horsepower.
Sorry but no it will not. Absolutely impossible. the exhaust manifold as well as turbo size dictate the max amount of flow from the exhaust system. There is absolutely zero change from stock size to any huge size you can buy unless your turbo and manifold can flow that amount. The stock system can actually flow a max of 4", but does not truly benefit from it for most applications. But however you can easily run a 5" pipe with stock everything else and not change anything whatsoever then what you had from the stock system. However if you have a different sized turbo and if you reach the point of a higher flowing manifold then exhaust sizes other than stock will dictate performance gains. Larger will NOT hurt in any way other than being overkill for the application. And if you still say it will then I would very much be interested in reading your scientific linked articles that actual users have researched. I am merely talking the physics behind it and not scientific background, and if anybody wants to refute the physics then I need scientific based evidence.

I've heard it will and it wont hurt performance. I couldn't understand how it would hurt performance, but your certainly not gaining any after 4". I run 4" tbe to a 5" tip and I love the way it sounds. anything bigger and your gonna sound like a pete coming down the road....which isn't always bad lol

The idea that it hurts comes from idea that it cools down to much... the heat is part of what keeps it moving to much heat is bad, but so is not enough. How much it hurts or doesn't hurt I'm unsure

I love my 5" Diamond eye and it was maybe $100 then the 4" kit. I upgraded from the stock system that I had running to a 6" stack. Sound was way better and definitely a great step up. Plus no soot in the bed! If I'm going to do it I don't want to do it twice so I went big with the 5". Just my $.02

Yes indeed! When she goes into lock up she sounds like like a dump truck! (In a good way!)
