What are you guys getting for mpgs? What mods? I've heard you can get about 17-18 city and 22 mpg interstate. Not sure if this is true or not but if I could get that type of mileage then a 5.9 diesel is the truck to get. Empty truck no haul is what I am looking for the mpg on. Please tell whether its hand calculated or monitor.

The truck in my signature has 4.10 gears, stock tires, and early Edge chip, similar to the current Edge EZ. I've got MBRP turbo back exhaust is the only other mod. I've never run it yet on summer fuel, but I'm averaging around 14 to 15 around town and 17 on the highway. This is hand cacluated, the diplay shows 21.

Our 05 usually got 15 town and 20 interstate (hand calculated) and it only had a rapter chip and a 6spd. we traded it in for the 6.7 we have now....which is no better even with the deletes. But I don't understand why the 12 valve I drive for my dd gets better mileage , old technology is doing way better (18 town 23 hwy), damn government regulations I guess.

Current sig truck ('04.5) getting 18.2-18.8 secondary roads (45-55mph). drive the same roads ever day. Empty
my '03 (RIP) dually same route 18.9-20.8 empty.
Both trucks have (had) HO's auto's and 4wd.
Hand calced on both.

I've kept mileage records since I bought the truck 3 years ago and overall I've averaged 18 mpg with a pretty much 50/50 mix city/highway miles. Although the Lie-o-meter consistently reads 20-24 in winter and 27-28 in summer. Kinda gives ya a warm and fuzzy feeling everytime ya look at it.

17-18 highway at 70 mph with leveling kit and 285/70/17 tires on a QCSB '06 with EFI Live tune. I laugh at people that say they get 20+ mpg on average doing 70+ mpg on a stock '06 4x4. My best is 19 mpg and recently I've gotten 16.5 twice same trip doing 72 mph the whole way driving nice.

I can exceed 20mpg (hand) on the interstate as long as I keep the motor turnin under 2k, so that means I need to keep it at or lower than 70mph. The meter tells me 23.5-24... Edge set on level 1.

2007, 5.9, 2wd, 3.73 rear, S.B. I checked my mileage (hand calculated) at 19.1mpg. I do not drive my truck in the snow or salt. It is started twice a week and ran on high idle for 30 min. Only driven on nice days in winter. Last tank of fuel lasted 2 months. My truck has all the latest flash updates. Funny thing is, my lie-o-meter is dead on to the tenth of an mpg of the hand calculated mpg. I can understand the overhead mpg being wrong 1 or 2 mpg, but some of the claims of it out of whack by 8mpg has to be caused by other problems and / or mods to the truck. With all the idling, I would think my overhead display would be way off.

Tuners affect the ohead the most.
with my Jr. I run on performance most of the time (best mpg, hand calc, go figure) and the ohead is only off by 3 mpg, set it to mileage and it's off by 8 mpg everytime, set to towing off by 10 mpg.
