I have a 2003 3500 Diesel 4x4. About 6 months ago the torque converter cooler came apart internally causing trans fluid in the engine and water in the trans. I drained the "strawberry milk" from both engine and trans, but out of frustration i just let it sit. A couple of weeks ago I decided to change the governor solenoid, filter and flush the contamination out. After 5 drain and fills the fluid has good color....here's the question: Every time I drain and refill it seems to slip more and more. On the initial pan drop there was the usual amount of black sludge on the magnet (trans has 189,000 miles on it). After the 4th drain and fill with bad slipping I dropped the pan again....a little more black (not much) but no chunks or shavings.
The engine will rev and the truck will move after a couple of seconds as if it is a standard trans.
Any advise or help would be appreciated.
