i don't know what the technical name is for it, but i'm talking about the canister that bolts to the side of the block where the trans lines go into and two engine coolant lines go into. anyone dissected the inside of one? is the concept running engine coolant lines on top of transmission fluid lines? just curious:thumbsup:

Yes, it's a heat exchanger. So the trans fluid is on one surface and water is on the other.

I have seen two different styles. One is a plate type, the other uses coils.
