But if you swapped the overdrive section and valve body it should work? I was needing to swap the OD section anyway to convert to 4x4.

Awesome thanks for the info!!!!! The search continues for a 4x4 47rh then.... I may end up having to buy a parts truck.

I have read that an overdrive section from a first gen a518 (46th) will work just fine on the 47rh (to convert 2x4-4x4) since you seem to know what you are talking about do you have any input? I have a line on a 95 2x4 that I could steal the trans and then part out.

The short answer is no.

But it can be done, @rockin345 convertered a junkyard 47rh to an Re for his truck a couple years ago. He posted it in the what did you do to your truck today.

Like you mentioned it takes some Frankenstein action but it can be done

You can do that but what the issues is with a 2wd and 4wd the intermediate shaft in the 2wd is a lot longer than the 4wd. You would have to tear both trans completely apart and swap parts over. Your better off just finding a 47rh 4wd. Unless u dont mine swapping parts around.

Also running a 47re in a first gen you have to run a 1/2 inch spacer between 205 n trans because tailshaft stick's Out too far ? or that Is what I have seen on other site . I run a 47rh and Love it . Best Thing I did .
