BUMP, Iv got the same question.
Im planning on picking up a set of 3rd gen wheels for my truck tomorrow. Seems like they will fit they fit just fine on the 4wd trucks, I read somewhere that the 4wd guys were running spacers but just to get the wheels outside the body, not for clearance issues or anything.

They dont fit!

They rub the inside of the bed in the back, and the front hits the upper ball joint.

Don't you just love it when someone reply's with absolutely no help at all or just tells you something you already know. Here is my take. Your going to need spacers. Get the wheels you want and make up some crude wheel spacer while your truck is jacked up. I went with the 2" spacer and it worked for me. I also replaced the 1st gen 1/2" wheel studs to the all but 1st gen stud 9/16" and ran the 3rd gen lug nut to hold the 3rd gen center cap. My studs was geetered up by the previous owner. I'm running 3rd/4th gen wheels and center cap and holy sh!t they FIT!!!!!.

well all i know s it must have had a big a$$ tires on the back cause theres lots of space in the back. the front might hit the fender if u have saggy springs like mine but going to replace the springs with the moogs 7226s superduty and it will raise my front end and then can clear the stock 265 tires on the 3rd gen rims, and my buddy has some on his first gen 2wd and no spacers, he said they bolted right up.
