The truck in question 2001 dodge 2500 cummins with the 47re.
The transmission heat exchanger developed a rust pinhole and has to be replaced. A new one from dodge is about a 1000 bucks. Looking for alternative.
There appears to be more in the aftermarket for 2003 and on, but the exchanger mounts differently and the coolant lines are in a different place.
Anyone tried to adapt a 2003+ version of the exchanger to their 2nd gen truck? I suppose apart from the mounting obstacles there might be issues with either the capacity (it looks smaller).
Not interested in removing it from the system altogether. If I can't find a workaround ill bit the bullet or aut viam venium aut facium.
