Got a friend with stock 06 coils and 3 inch coil spacers. I want to go back to closer to stock height. Will his coil springs work on my 97 and his spacers?

Yes they will fit, however your ride will suck. The 3rd gen coils have a higher spring rate so it will be a rough ride.

Are they just rough on our trucks or is it the same ride quality you would experience in a 3rd gen?

The 3rd gen is heavier so the spring rate is higher. If you put them in a lighter truck the spring rate is too high. I would probably compare it to driving a 1st gen as far as bone jarring ride.

You could try locating some PowerWagon springs...or give one of the big guys a call... Thuren or Carli. They will get you set up for what you need.

Gotcha. You could always just give them a go and if you don't like them just resell them

Or just use the spacer on your coils.

Never mind saw that you have superlift coils on it now.
